People lives depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Learn how to provide critical care in emergency situations using the updated National EMT curriculum. You will learn about the EMT role, safety concerns, airway management, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, infants and children, and ambulance operations. The EMR Bridge to EMT course is provided in a blended classroom/online format. Any current EMR that has an unexpired Minnesota certification as an EMR is eligible for this bridge course. This class is designed for the experienced EMR, with a good base knowledge.

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT initial course. This will be a blended class of online study and classroom study and activity.
We will meet as a class every Tuesday and Thursday evening at Crown College. This time will be dedicated for some lecture and some hands-on understanding of material read up to that date.
National EMS Certification assures the public, licensing officials, and employers that the EMS professional is competent. The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians® (National Registry) provides National EMS Certification for the United States. This is a standard that every American citizen deserves—at their moment of greatest need. National EMS Certification is part of the national EMS Education Agenda for the Future: A Systems Approach.
After candidates complete an approved EMS education program, and they meet eligibility requirements, candidates are required to demonstrate entry level competency on both cognitive and psychomotor examinations to become a certified EMT-B.
The psychomotor test will be required, and we will only be offering it once. If student misses their test, it is their responsibility and cost to make it up somewhere else. The cost of the cognitive test is not included in the class fees.

ACLS w/BLS Refresher – Wednesday January 17th, 2024 – Arlington (Sibley)

Thank you for signing up for the ACLS/BLS refresher class. We are looking forward to offering you a fantastic day of training. Below you’ll find our intro letter to the class with a link to the pretest and other pertinent information.
Mandatory Precourse Self-Assessment: Before attending the ACLS Course, students must complete the mandatory precourse self-assessment located on the ACLS Student Website. They must achieve a score of 70% or higher, and they have unlimited chances to pass the precourse self assessment. Students must print their completion certificate and bring it to their ACLS class.

Agenda for the day includes reviewing the principles of ECG monitoring, reviewing videos from the American Heart Association on Advanced Cardiac Life Support. To complete the requirements for certification, there will be a written test (70% pass rate required-open book) and a demonstration of competency through simulation.
After ACLS is complete we will include an opportunity for you to refresh your BLS as well. Through demonstrating high quality CPR and respiratory interventions as individuals and within a team in a simulated environment, you will fulfill the requirements for renewing your BLS card.
