ACLS Initial – September ???

Welcome,

Thank you for signing up for this ACLS initial class at the EMTI at Crown College. We are looking forward to having you out and to offering you a couple fantastic days of training. Below you’ll find our intro letter to the class with a link to the pretest and other pertinent information.

You must possess and BRING a copy of your current American Heart Association BLS to participate in this ACLS initial class.

Mandatory Precourse Self-Assessment: Before attending the ACLS Course, students must complete the mandatory precourse self-assessment located on the ACLS Student Website. They must achieve a score of 70% or higher, and they have unlimited chances to pass the precourse selfassessment. Students must print their completion certificate and BRING it to their first day of ACLS class.

ACLS Pretest

We will be meeting in the EMTI Lab (W243) at Crown College from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to review the principles of ECG monitoring.

Maps to Crown and the EMTI Lab

Day 1 – This day will include an opportunity for you to demonstrate high quality CPR, airway management, and improve your knowledge of cardiac symptoms and treatments.

Day 2 – This day will focus on learning stations of the various rhythms, megacode proficiency, and testing.

Breaks

We will have various small brakes throughout the class including one hour for lunch each day. Feel free to bring lunch, eat in our cafeteria or cafe (September through May), or try one of the local establishments in St. Boni.

St. Boni: Mackenthun’s Sausage and Deli, Subway, Quick Trip, Mocha Monkey, St. Boni Bistro.

Certifications

E-cards E-cards will be sent to the email address you provide during your online registration (exception will be RMC personnel whose will be sent to their Ridgeview email address). Please allow one week for processing.

Continuing Education Accreditation – Emergency Medical Services
This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 9.75 Advanced CEHs, activity number 16-AMHA-F2-0309.

Emergency Medical Responder – 16 hr Refresher

Welcome to the EMTI’s 16 hr EMR refresher.

Our curriculum meets and exceeds the requirements set by the National EMS Education Scope of Practice for an Emergency Medical Responder. This course provides the necessary refresher hours for the rescuer to help sustain life, reduce pain and minimize injury during out-of-hospital medical and traumatic emergencies—while awaiting or alongside higher-level personnel at the scene.

Where: Classes will be held at Crown College in the EMTI (Emergency Medical Training Institute) Lab (W243).
When: September 21-22
How: Sign up through this page as an individual with a CC or have your supervisor register you and well send them an invoice.
What: 16 hrs of some of the best refresher training anywhere
Who: Firefighters, Police officers, Others who live to serve

We will address any local protocols and discussion in regard to Medical Direction for our local area during the National Component Curriculum along with any individual topical questions.

Textbook: Emergency Medical Responder 6th edition by AAOS is the curriculum text which is the basis for this training. (You do not need the book for this refresher.)

ACLS

Please be prepared with the current American Heart Association ACLS book (2015). Older books are not acceptable for this class. Order your book at World Point or borrow one from the RMC library by contacting your supervisor.

ACLS Pretest

Agenda for the day includes reviewing the principles of ECG monitoring, reviewing videos from the American Heart Association on Advanced Cardiac Life Support. To complete the requirements for certification, there will be a written test (70% pass rate required-open book) and a demonstration of competency through simulation.

BLS

Before the ACLS portion of the class starts, we will provide you the opportunity to renew your BLS certificate. Through demonstrating high quality CPR and respiratory interventions as individuals and within a team in a simulated environment, you will fulfill the requirements for renewing your BLS card.
